ODBC - How do you clear ODBC licences in use?

Post by sgnirtswob » Wed Jun 30, 2010 12:17 pm

Hi,

We have a number of ODBC licences in use, and this appears to be stopping some users from using kiodbc. However I woudl prefer to avoid a server reboot to clear these old licences.

Is there a way to clear the ODBC licence cache without rebooting the server?

many thanks

1. Check for the semaphores running with the command
ipcs -s
2. Note the semaphore with the memory reference id KEY 0x74700000
3. Clear the semaphore with the ID No. with the above reference with the command
ipcrm -s <semid> - where <semid> is the semaphore ID displayed

However, pease make sure there are no active ODBC connections before clearing the queue, as clearing semaphore keys will close all the ODBC connections.

Secondly doing this on a regular practice is also not advisable as closing an ODBC connection should do this automatically.

Hi Russell,
Instead of clearing the licenses, I would recommend you downgrade the server part of KIODBC. The previous version works much better and does not clog your semaphores.
