Automated reports

Post by cisco » Tue May 04, 2010 10:00 am

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me if it is possible within ADP Kerridge to configure an automated report within Report Generator that can be sent via FTP/email?
I would love to know if this is possible.

Many thanks in advance,
James

It is possible is the first answer. Unfortunantly I work for a different company now, still KCML coding (at the moment), so I am unable to remember or remind myself how to do it. Hopefully some one else will explain. Good luck. :D

Using report generator change output type to M and you should be able to send an email.

Then run the report through Timed operations

Email reports

This is pretty straight forward.

Mark the report as 'M' as suggested.

In the derived you need a line that details the email header fields:

email_to$ = "dave@work.com": email_cc$ = "another@work.com": email_subject$ = "Whats this email all about"

You can use prompts if required but you are limited to the field length:

!0_TO$
!0_CC$
!0_SUBJECT$
email_to$ = !0_TO$ : email_subject$= !0_SUBJECT$

This will only email the output in plain text, pretty much unformated lines.

I understand you can attach RTF prints with 9304 and above (I'm on 9090) but the only thing I've been able to attach is HTML pages, which is much better formating than the plain text.

To do this mark the report as a HTML and use the predefined funtion 'rg_notify()

Hi, this is a joint introduction and hopefully an answer to the second part of your problem.

The mail side has been dealt with above using the standard inbuilt functions of RepGen, although you don't need to set the report to 'M' to use them, so the report can email you to tell you a file has been generated and all that good stuff. T

he FTP part can be done using an overlay and some variables that are set within the derived fields. Send me an email and I'll send you the overlay and full instructions.
